Dr. Eureka Nakai
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
Dr. Nakai is currently:
- Professional member - Canadian Diabetes Association
- former clinical lecturer - University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Podiatry division.
Born in Calgary, Dr. Eureka Nakai started to attend dance classes at age five through the promptings of her neighbours, the Wilson sisters of McDonald Wilson Dance Academy. The rest is history! Engulfed by ballet, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Botany at the University of Calgary as a cornerstone for her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Chicago, Illinois. While studying in Chicago, she enjoyed discovering dance biomechanics and working in the podiatric medical school's orthotics lab, as an orthotic tech and teaching assistant.
Upon completion of a Podiatric surgical residency at St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital Center, Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Nakai returned to Calgary to practice all aspects of Podiatric Medicine at the NorthWest Foot Clinic, including surgery and pediatric biomechanics, such as pointe readiness and dance injuries. Currently, Dr. Nakai enjoys attending to dancer's needs at the NorthWest Foot Clinic, giving dance medicine seminars/workshops, working on part II of "To the Dancer" - foot booklets, taking classes at McDonald Wilson Dance Academy, and being a mom.
